The expert at Play3r.net decided that this tablet computer provided a good bang for your buck and gave it their "Value for Money" award.

Good for Games

A few customers who reviewed it thought it was good playing games on. Expert website Trustedreviews.com wrote “Smartphones are superb gaming devices these days.” in their Archos GamePad review. Cnet.co.uk mentioned on expert website CNET.co.uk “The Archos GamePad is an attempt to bolt a proper gaming controller to an” in their review. Expert review site T3.com said “2013 is set to be the year that Android gaming breaks free from smartphones” but even so they only gave the product a score of 40 out of 100.

Good Value for Money

Play3r.net highlighted in their review that this tablet computer was good value for money.

Good Sound Quality

Several people who reviewed this tablet mentioned that it had good sound quality. Digitalversus.com said on expert review site Digital Versus “Even with something that sounds great on paper” yet they scored this tablet 40 out of 100. Itproportal.com said in their Archos GamePad review “The idea is sound, even brilliant.” nonetheless they only gave it a rating of 3 stars.

Robust

One Archos GamePad reviewer who reviewed this tablet concluded that it was well made. Expert review site Androidcentral.com said “The GamePad solves this by having everything you expect to see in a game controller built in”.

Good Size

One Archos GamePad owner concluded that the product was good physically. Expert website Itproportal.com mentioned in their Archos GamePad review “The GamePad leverages on the ever-improving Android gaming market by offering users real, physical controls with which to play”.

Quite Fast Processor Frequency

With a processor frequency of 1.6 gigahertz, the Archos GamePad has one of the faster processor frequencys amongst Cortex-A9 processor tablet computers of this age. The average processor frequency of tablet computers of this age and spec is 1.4GHz.

Alternative 1.6GHz processor clock speed tablet computers currently available that you might also want to consider include the Xenta 7, or the TAB07-485 Noble Mini both from Yarvik or the Medion Lifetab E10315 which has better reviews.

If you want a faster processor frequency then you might also want to look at the TechniSat Mini (1.8GHz) which also has a higher rating.

Across all the tablet computers of a comparable age and spec to the GamePad the weights range from 260g to 3.7kg. At only 330 grams, the GamePad is fairly light compared to most of the other Cortex-A9 processor tablet computers that were released around the same time as the GamePad.

One person wrote in their reviews that it did not have a good battery life. Expert review site Cnet.co.uk said four years ago “Uncomfortable controls, poor battery life and a dire screen make the Archos GamePad a bitter disappointment for Android joystick junkies”.

The Archos GamePad is not 3G, although it is worth noting that most of the other tablets that have been available for more than two years are also not 3G.

Most tablets of a similar age and spec to the GamePad are not 4G. The GamePad is no exception to this as it too is not 4G.

If you would prefer a tablet computer that is 4G then you might also want to consider the MediaPad 10 FHD, or the MediaPad 10 Link both from Huawei.

Very Small Display Diagonal

With a display diagonal of only 7 inches, the GamePad has one of the smaller display diagonals amongst comparable spec tablet computers of this age. The display diagonals of tablet computers of a comparable type and age to the GamePad range from 7" to 22", and the average display diagonal is 8.7".

We compared this tablet to all the other 7" tablets and we think because of it's better review score, the 270G, and the 270 both from Hamlet or the Yarvik Xenta 7 is also worth considering.

Tablet computers with a larger display diagonal that might also be worth considering include the Mediacom Smart Pad S4 7.85 (7.85" and higher rated), the TechniSat Mini (7.85" and higher rated), or the Medion LifeTab S7851 (7.85" and higher rated).
