Data projectors of a similar age and spec to this projector have noise levels of between 28dB and 54dB. At only 34 decibels, the PJ WX2240 VP has a quite quiet noise level compared to most of the other 2000:1 contrast ratio projectors that were released around the same time as this projector.

If you don't mind having a louder noise level then you might also want to look at the Infocus IN5316HDA ($3,228.45) (34dB), or the Hitachi CP-DH300 (34dB).
