Good 3D Picture Quality

A number of people who reviewed the product agreed that it had a good 3D picture quality. Expert review site Trustedreviews.com gave the Optoma HD83 a score of 4 stars and said “At the time of writing, we've recently seen excellent new 3D projectors from Sony” in their review.

Acceptable Noise Level

One Optoma HD83 owner who reviewed this projector considered that it was quiet. Trusted Reviews mentioned “Runs quietly in low lamp mode”.

Supports Full HD

The Optoma HD83 supports full HD, which is unusual. Most of the other projectors of a similar age and type to the HD83 do not support full HD.

It may also be worth also looking at one of the alternative projectors which support full HD currently available including because of it's better review score, the Epson EH-TW6600.

We compared all the other multimedia projectors which also support full HD to this data projector and we think the Optoma HD141 ($638.95) is also worth considering.

The Optoma HD83 supports 3D, which is unusual. Most of the other comparable spec projectors that have been around for more than two years do not support 3D.

It may also be worth also looking at one of the alternative projectors which support 3D currently available including the Epson EH-TW6600 which has better reviews.

1080p (1920x1080) Projector Native Resolution

The highest resolution of the Optoma HD83 is 1080p (1920x1080). That's over two times the resolution of a WXGA (1280x800) data projector, which is the most frequently found resolution. The best resolution of all comparable spec data projectors that have been around for more than two years is DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) and the worst is VGA (640x480).

Quite Big Uniformity

Across all the comparable spec multimedia projectors that were launched more than two years ago the uniformitys range from 80% to 120%. With a uniformity of 90 percent, the Optoma HD83 has one of the bigger uniformitys amongst projectors of this age.

Quite Dim Projector Brightness

Across all the similar spec multimedia projectors that were launched more than two years ago the projector brightnesss range from 75 ANSI lumens to 11,000 ANSI lumens. At only 1,600 ANSI lumen, the Optoma HD83 has a quite dim projector brightness compared to most of the other projectors of a similar spec and age to the HD83.

If this data projector projector brightness is too dim for you then you might also want to consider the Epson EH-TW6600 (2,500 ANSI lumens) which also has a higher rating.
