The average noise level of 5000:1 contrast ratio projectors that were released around the same time as this data projector is 37dB, and the noise levels range from 29dB to 48dB.

It may also be worth considering one of the alternative 36dB noise level multimedia projectors currently available including the Epson PowerLite W16 ($550) which has better reviews.

If you are not bothered about having a louder noise level then you might also want to look at the Hitachi CP-AX3003 (36dB).
