Benq Has Good Reviews for Its Projectors

We calculated the average ratings for all Benq projectors and also specifically for Benq 5000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors and found that in both cases Benq had good ratings compared to other manufacturers.

Just Released Four Months Ago

This multimedia projector is one of the latest data projectors to be released. As such it is likely to use more advanced technology than some of the older data projectors.

Supports 3D

The Benq SX920 supports 3D, which is unusual. Most of the other similar spec projectors that have been available for the last year do not support 3D.

The Benq SX920 has a built-in speaker(s), as do most of the other recently released 5000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors.

We compared this projector to all the other data projectors with a built-in speaker(s) and we think the Panasonic PT-VW535NAJ, the Hitachi CP-WX5505, and the Viewsonic PRO8800WUL which has better reviews is also worth considering.

1600 X 1200 (UXGA) Supported Graphics Resolutions

The Benq SX920 supports a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 (UXGA). That's over four times the resolution of a 800 x 600 (SVGA) data projector, which is the most frequently found resolution supported by data projectors that have been on the market for the last year. This multimedia projector also supports a supported graphics resolutions of 640 x 480 (VGA). Across all projectors that are a comparable age to the SX920 the best resolution is 3840 x 2160 and the worst is 640 x 350.

Very High RMS Rated Power

Across all the comparable spec data projectors that have been around for the last year the RMS rated powers range from 10W to 20W. When compared to other 5000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that have been on the market for a comparable time to the SX920 that we have assessed the RMS rated power of, the Benq SX920's RMS rated power of 20 Watts is one of the highest.

Does Not Support Full HD

Most 5000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that came out in the last 12 months do not support full HD. The Benq SX920 is no exception to this as it too does not support full HD.

There are a number of alternative multimedia projectors which also support full HD that you might want to consider including the PRO8800WUL, or the PRO8530HDL ($1,799.99) both from Viewsonic which also has a higher rating.

Does Not Support Wi-Fi

The Benq SX920 does not support wi-Fi, although keep in mind that most of the other latest data projectors also do not support wi-Fi.

Very Dim Projector Brightness

At only 5,000 ANSI lumens, the Benq SX920 has a fairly dim projector brightness compared to most of the other 5000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that were released in the last 12 months. 5000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that are a similar age to the SX920 have projector brightnesss of between 4,800 ANSI lumens and 12,000 ANSI lumens, and the average projector brightness is 6,200 ANSI lumens.
