Good Product Quality

Good Picture Quality

Can Project 3D Content

Two owners who purchased the Benq MS524 concluded that it had a good 3D picture quality. Pc Mag said “Can project 3D content” . Two years ago Louis Allen mentioned “It upscales to HD well in my opinion and the 3-D its absolutely fantastic”.

Poor High Def TV

Quite Bright Projector Brightness

The dimmest projector brightness of projectors of this age and type is 800 ANSI lumens and the brightest is 4,200 ANSI lumens. At 3,200 ANSI lumens, the Benq MS524 has a fairly bright projector brightness compared to most of the other projectors that were released more than two years ago.

There are a number of alternative 3,200 ANSI lumens brightness data projectors currently available which you might also want to look at including the MW526 ($395), or the MX525 ($2,899.99) both from Benq which has better reviews.

Only SVGA (800x600) Resolution

The Benq MS524 has a maximum resolution of SVGA (800x600). That's 39% less resolution than a XGA (1024x768) data projector, which is the most common resolution.

A SVGA (800x600) projector native resolution is actually the worst resolution across all data projectors of a similar type and age to this projector.

A 1080p (1920x1080) projector native resolution is the best resolution across similar types of multimedia projector.

Performance

Quite Quiet Noise Level

At only 32 decibels, the Benq MS524 has a fairly quiet noise level compared to most of the other multimedia projectors of this spec and age. Projectors of this age and spec have noise levels of between 26dB and 40dB.

Other 32dB noise level projectors currently available that you might also want to look at include the Benq TW523 which has better reviews.

If you don't mind having a louder noise level then you might also want to consider the Benq MX518 (32dB).

One person who reviewed it considered that it was tight. Ben mentioned on Amazon “This is an absolute bargain if you want a 1080p (up-scaled from its native 800x600), 3D cinematic experience in your house and are on a tight budget”.
