Design

Easy to Use

Two people who reviewed this projector considered that it was easy to use. Expert review site Gadgetreview.com wrote “Digital LED projector has a number of advantages over the more conventional bulb-based model, chief among them being ease of use, near-instant light start-up” in their Benq GP20 review. Three years ago Globetrottergirl wrote “The inbuilt speakers are very handy if not powerful, so I will change that.”.


Good Picture Quality

One customer who reviewed the product concluded that it had good colour saturation. Globetrottergirl said in their review of the Benq GP20 on Amazon “For such a tiny thing (it fits on my standard size fireplace mantlepiece) it sure produces a wall full of picture with clear fab colours”.

Good Sound Quality

One owner mentioned that the Benq GP20 had good sound quality.


Networking

Supports Wi-Fi

The Benq GP20 supports Wi-Fi, which is unusual. Most of the other 10000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that were launched more than two years ago do not support Wi-Fi.

We compared this multimedia projector to all the other projectors which support Wi-Fi and we think the Epson EB-X03 which is cheaper is also worth considering.

The Benq GP20 has a built-in speaker(s), as do most of the other comparable spec projectors that have been around for around the same time as this data projector.

There are a number of other projectors with a built-in speaker(s) currently available that you might also want to look at including a cheaper multimedia projector such as the Epson EB-X03 or you might consider a better rated multimedia projector such as the Optoma ML550 ($494.31).

Other projectors which also have a built-in speaker(s) that you might also want to consider include the Panasonic PT-LB280E.

The number of supported video formats on the Benq GP20 is more than most projectors of a similar spec and age to it. This projector supports an AVI video formats supported, which is the most frequently supported video formats supported supported by projectors of a similar age and spec to this projector. The video formats supported "DAT", "DIVX", "M-JPEG", "MPEG", "MPEG1", "MPG" and "XVID" are also supported by this multimedia projector.

Quite Dim Projector Brightness

At only 700 ANSI lumens, the Benq GP20 has a fairly dim projector brightness compared to most of the other comparable spec projectors that were released around the same time as this multimedia projector.

We compared all the other 700 ANSI lumens brightness multimedia projectors to this multimedia projector and we think a cheaper data projector such as the Optoma ML750 or you might consider a higher scoring data projector such as the Acer K137 ($1,099.99) are also worth considering.

Not Good in Terms of Size

Two customers said in their reviews that this projector was not lightweight. Expert review site Hometheaterhifi.com wrote “Like• LED light engine means no bulb replacement – ever• Decent accuracy without calibration• Small, lightweight”. Hometheaterhifi.com also mentioned “The BenQ GP20 LED projector houses a single DLP chip in a small lightweight chassis barely larger than a hardcover book” in their review.


Video

Does Not Support Full HD

The Benq GP20 does not support full HD, although this is within the context that most of the other multimedia projectors that have been available for more than two years also do not support full HD.

We compared all the other data projectors which also support full HD to this projector and we think the Optoma ML750 which is also cheaper is also worth considering.
