Medium monitors manufactured by NEC have excellent reviews on average compared to other manufacturers. We also checked the reviews for all flatpanel monitors (not just medium monitors) and found that NEC also has excellent reviews across its entire range.

Robust

Some customers who reviewed the NEC MultiSync E243 agreed that it was well made. Macworld.co.uk wrote in their review of this PC monitor “Nicely built, fully adjustable stand, excellent overall colour accuracy, well rendered text, good screen uniformity, decent sRGB coverage”.

Nice Design

One person who reviewed it concluded that it was neat. Expert website Macworld.co.uk wrote in their review two years ago “The display is neat and accurate, well-built” and scored it 4 stars.

The NEC MultiSync E243 has a built-in speaker, unlike most of the other PC displays of a comparable age and spec to the MultiSync E243 which do not have a built-in speaker.

We compared this LCD screen to all the other PC monitors with a built-in speaker and we think because of it's better review score, the NEC EA224WMi[plb_1412543_price], the Philips 231P4Q[plb_1394858_price], and the AOC G2460[plb_1556076_price] is also worth considering.

One person who bought it thought it was not easy to use the menus. Macworld.co.uk mentioned “Menu system poorly implemented, more expensive than budget consumer designs” in their review of this PC monitor.

Not 3D Compatible

Most flatpanel monitors that have been on the market for a similar time to the MultiSync E243 are not 3D compatible. The NEC MultiSync E243 is no exception to this as it too is not 3D compatible.

PC screens which are 3D compatible that might be worth considering include the XL2411[pl_2130532_price], or the XL2420[pl_1453626_price] both from Benq or the Asus VG248QE[plb_1529549_price] which also has a higher rating.

The MultiSync E243 does not have a built-in camera, although keep in mind that most of the other comparable spec PC displays that have been available for a similar time to the MultiSync E243 also do not have a built-in camera.
