At 1,700 candella per square meter, the Barco MDCG-3221 has a very bright display brightness compared to most of the other similar spec LCD screens that came out more than two years ago. The dimmest display brightness of medium monitors that were released more than two years ago is 30 cd/m² and the brightest is 1,700 cd/m².

2048 X 1536 (QXGA) Graphics Resolution

The highest resolution of the MDCG-3221 is 2048 x 1536 (QXGA). That's 52% more resolution than the most common graphics resolution of 1920 x 1080 (HD 1080). Across all medium monitors that were launched around the same time as the MDCG-3221 the resolution ranges from 640 x 350 (worst) to 3840 x 2160 (best).

At only 378 millimeters, the MDCG-3221 is very narrow compared to most of the other similar spec PC screens that have been available for around the same time as the MDCG-3221. The Barco MDCG-3221 does not have a built-in speaker. Most of the other flatpanel monitors of this type and age do have a built-in speaker.

Not 3D Compatible

The Barco MDCG-3221 is not 3D compatible, although keep in mind that most of the other flatpanel monitors that have been available for around the same time as the MDCG-3221 are also not 3D compatible.

PC monitors which are 3D compatible that might be worth looking at include the LG 27MT93V.

Does Not Have a Built-In Camera

The Barco MDCG-3221 does not have a built-in camera, although it is worth keeping in mind that most of the other medium monitors that were released more than two years ago also do not have a built-in camera.

Other LCD screens which also have a built-in camera that you might also want to look at include the Apple 27" Cinema Display which also has a higher rating.

Does Not Have an Integrated Card Reader

Like most of the other PC screens of this age and spec, the MDCG-3221 does not have an integrated card reader.

We compared all the other flatpanel monitors which also have an integrated card reader to this LCD screen and we think the U2713H, or the UP2414Q ($699.93) both from DELL or the Acer DA220 is also worth considering.

The MDCG-3221 has a very slow response time (40 milliseconds) compared to most of the other comparable spec PC displays that have been around for a similar time to the MDCG-3221. The average response time of PC displays of this age and type is 6.2ms.

Released Over Three Years Ago

It was over three years ago when Barco released the MDCG-3221.

LCD Display Type

The MDCG-3221 has a better display type than most LCD screens of a comparable age and type to it. This PC screen has an LCD display type, whereas most PC displays of this age and spec have an LED display type.

It may also be worth considering one of the other PC screens that have an LCD Display currently available including because of it's better review score, the Planar PLL2210W ($60.00), or the Eizo ColorEdge CS230.

If the display type of this PC screen is not good enough for you then you might also want to consider the Samsung S27D590 ($299.99) (LED and higher rated), or the AOC M2870V (LED and higher rated).
