A few people who reviewed it agreed that it was able to produce good images. Two years ago Ayjay rated it 5 stars and mentioned “One thing; I've found that using the 2 second timer really helpful, to make sure my hands are steady, before the picture is taken” in their review. Raquel Rita wrote in her review “Has a good image quality” but even so she gave it a score of 3 stars. Stephen Spiers wrote “After a bit of practice the underwater mode games amazing picture results even in slightly murky” in his Ricoh WG-30 Wi-Fi review and gave it a rating of 5 stars.

A number of customers who purchased it wrote that it was good at resisting water ingress. Two years ago Ayjay mentioned on Amazon “The other shooting modes [including the underwater mode] are easy to select - I'm no David Bailey.”. Ayjay also wrote “Plus the shape and texture of the outer casing is easy to get a good grip on - even under water! Fortunately the Pentax WG-3 is very easy to use”.
