I did a lot of online evaluation before choosing this board...

Highly rated. Hardware RAID, not software so you get much better performance. But you pay for the performance
Host swap, hot rebuild and NCQ support. All very nice
Check out the review on "tom's hardware" site
Installing Debian sarge was a pain. Nothing would see the 3ware controller. I had to install on an IDE drive, then compile a kernel 2.6.11 to get it working
Note for Tyan G 28 servers: I had to switch from the 9550sx 4LP to the 8LP because the first sata ports are at the very end of the card. Due to this design, the 4LP is NOT compatible with the Tyan G 2
