At 5 times zoom factor, the PowerShot G12 has a pretty typical optical zoom compared to most of the other cameras of a comparable age and spec to the PowerShot G12.

We compared this digital camera to all the other 5x optical zoom digital cameras and we think the Canon PowerShot G15 ($259.99) which is cheaper is also worth considering.
