We compared all the other 12x (optical) video cameras to this video camera and we think the Panasonic HDC-TM900, and the Sony HVR-Z7 ($3,999.99) which has better reviews is also worth considering.

If you are looking for a bigger optical zoom then you might also want to consider the HXR-NX3-VG1 (20x), or the HXR-NX3 ($3,157.99) (20x) both from Sony.
