Just Released Eight Months Ago
This data projector was released just eight months ago, so it is likely to have better features than some of the older projectors.
Has a Built-In Speaker
The Vivitek DX977 has a built-in speaker, as do most of the other new 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors.
We think you might also be interested in some of the other projectors with a built-in speaker currently available including cheaper data projectors such as the IN2128HDX ($984.25), or the IN128HDSTX ($916.05) both from Infocus or the Vivitek DH833 ($1,029.69).
Very Bright Projector Brightness
With a projector brightness of 6,000 ANSI lumens, the Vivitek DX977's projector brightness is one of the brightest amongst new 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors. The average projector brightness of multimedia projectors that were released around the same time as the DX977 is 3,700 ANSI lumens, and the projector brightness range from 2,000 ANSI lumens to 6,000 ANSI lumens.
Very Big Matrix Size
The matrix sizes of latest projectors range from 0.55" to 0.7", and the average matrix size is 0.62". When compared to other comparable spec projectors that have been on the market for around the same time as the DX977 that we have checked the matrix size of, the Vivitek DX977's matrix size of 0.7 inches is one of the biggest.
Three VGA (D-Sub) Ports
The Vivitek DX977 has more VGA (D-Sub) ports than most of the new 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors. This Vivitek projector is a three VGA (D-Sub) port projector compared to most of the newly released multimedia projectors which only have between one and two VGA (D-Sub) ports.
+1 More reason for
5 Reasons Against
Does Not Support 3D Image Projection
Most similar spec projectors that were launched around the same time as the DX977 do not support 3D image projection. The Vivitek DX977 is no exception to this as it too does not support 3D image projection.
There are a number of other projectors which also support 3D image projection which you might also want to consider including the IN2128HDX ($984.25), or the IN128HDSTX ($916.05) both from Infocus or the Optoma DU400 which is also cheaper.
Does Not Support Full HD Projection
The Vivitek DX977 does not support Full HD projection. Most of the other data projectors that are a similar age to the DX977 do support Full HD projection.
We think you might also be interested in other multimedia projectors which also support Full HD projection including the IN2128HDX ($984.25), or the IN128HDSTX ($916.05) both from Infocus or the Vivitek DH833 ($1,029.69) which is also cheaper.
Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity
Like most of the other 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors that came out in the last 12 months, the Vivitek DX977 does not support WiFi connectivity.
Only XGA (1024x768) Native Projector Resolution
The highest resolution of the Vivitek DX977 is XGA (1024x768). That's 62% less resolution than the most common native projector resolution of 1080p (1920x1080).
This projector's resolution (XGA (1024x768)) is actually the worst resolution across all 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors that have been available for the last year.
The best resolution amongst comparable types of projector is WUXGA (1920x1200).
+2 More reasons against
Across all the data projectors that were launched around the same time as the DX977 the weights range from 2.3g to 4.6kg. At 4 kilograms, the Vivitek DX977 is fairly heavy compared to most of the other 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors that have been around for a comparable time to the DX977.
1 Other reason to consider the Vivitek DX977
Average Noise Level
With a noise level of 36 decibels, the Vivitek DX977 has a relatively standard noise level compared to most of the other comparable spec projectors that were released in the last 12 months.
Other projectors with a louder noise level that you might want to look at include the Infocus IN128HDSTX ($916.05) (34dB) which is also cheaper.
