Supports 3D Image Projection

The Sony VPL-HW40ES supports 3D image projection, as do most of the other projectors of a similar type and age to the VPL-HW40ES.

There are a number of other projectors which support 3D image projection currently available that you might want to look at including the LG PA1000, or the Optoma GT1070 which has better reviews; or the Benq GP30 which is cheaper.

Does Not Have a Built-In Speaker

Most projectors that are a comparable age to the VPL-HW40ES do not have a built-in speaker. The Sony VPL-HW40ES is no exception to this as it too does not have a built-in speaker.

There are a number of other data projectors which also have a built-in speaker which you might also want to consider including the LG PA1000, or the Optoma GT1070 or the Benq GP30.

Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity

The VPL-HW40ES does not support WiFi connectivity. Most of the other multimedia projectors that have been around for more than two years also do not support WiFi connectivity.

Alternative projectors which also support WiFi connectivity that you might want to look at include the Benq GP30, or the Optoma W305ST which is also cheaper.

Quite Dim Projector Brightness

The VPL-HW40ES has a quite dim projector brightness (only 1,700 ANSI lumen) compared to most of the other data projectors of this age and spec. Projectors that came out around the same time as the VPL-HW40ES have projector brightness of between 300 ANSI lumens and 9,200 ANSI lumens, and the average projector brightness is 2,900 ANSI lumens.

If this projector projector brightness is not bright enough for you then you might also want to consider the GT1070 (2,600 ANSI lumens), the GT1080 ($669.49) (2,800 ANSI lumens), or the EH200ST ($926.99) (3,000 ANSI lumens) all from Optoma which also has a higher rating.
