8 Reasons For

Panasonic Multimedia Projectors Have Excellent Reviews

Multimedia projectors produced by Panasonic generally have excellent reviews compared to other manufacturers.

Quite Bright Projector Brightness

With a projector brightness of 6,000 ANSI lumens, the Panasonic PT-DW640 has a fairly bright projector brightness compared to most of the other comparable spec multimedia projectors that are a similar age to the PT-DW640. Across all the projectors that have been around for a comparable time to the PT-DW640 the projector brightness range from 110 ANSI lumens to 10,000 ANSI lumens.

If you want a brighter projector brightness then you might also want to consider the Hitachi CP-X9110 (10,000 ANSI lumens).

1920 X 1200 (WUXGA) Graphics Resolution

The highest resolution supported by the PT-DW640 is 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA). That's over seven times the resolution of the most frequently found graphics resolution of 640 x 480 (VGA) (which is also supported by this multimedia projector). In addition, this Panasonic projector supports a graphics resolution of 1280 x 800 (WXGA).

This projector's resolution (1920 x 1200 (WUXGA)) is in fact the best supported resolution amongst all 2000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that have been around for a comparable time to the PT-DW640.

Amongst similar types of projector the worst supported resolution is 640 x 480 (VGA).

Quite Quiet Noise Level

With a noise level of only 35 decibels, the PT-DW640 has one of the quieter noise levels amongst multimedia projectors of this age. The average noise level of projectors that have been on the market for a comparable time to the PT-DW640 is 36dB, and the noise levels range from 28dB to 42dB.

Chart Edit

WXGA (1280x800) Native Projector Resolution

The highest resolution of the Panasonic PT-DW640 is WXGA (1280x800). That's 30% more resolution than a XGA (1024x768) multimedia projector, which is the most common resolution. The worst resolution of all projectors of a comparable type and age to the PT-DW640 is XGA (1024x768) and the best is WUXGA (1920x1200).

8 Reasons Against

Does Not Have a Built-In Speaker

The PT-DW640 does not have a built-in speaker, unlike most of the other projectors of this age and spec.

Chart Edit

Does Not Support Full HD Projection

Like most of the other data projectors of this type and age, the PT-DW640 does not support Full HD projection.

We compared this projector to all the other projectors with a Full HD projection and we think the AAXA Technologies LED Android Pico Projector ($499.00) is also worth considering.

Does Not Support 3D Image Projection

Like most of the other 2000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that came out more than two years ago, the PT-DW640 does not support 3D image projection.

Chart Edit

Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity

The Panasonic PT-DW640 does not support WiFi connectivity. Most of the other data projectors of this type and age also do not support WiFi connectivity.

There are a number of other projectors which also support WiFi connectivity which you might want to look at including the AAXA Technologies M2 Micro which is also higher rated.

Very Low Maximum Horizontal Synchronization

Comparable spec data projectors that have been on the market for around the same time as the PT-DW640 have maximum horizontal synchronization of between 91kHz and 110kHz. The PT-DW640 has one of the lower maximum horizontal synchronization (only 91 kilohertz) amongst comparable spec projectors of this age.

Chart Edit

Only One VGA (D-Sub) Port

The PT-DW640 is a one VGA (D-Sub) port multimedia projector. Most of the other 2000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that are a comparable age to the PT-DW640 have between one and three VGA (D-Sub) ports.

Chart Edit

Quite Low Maximum Vertical Synchronization

Across all the projectors that have been available for around the same time as the PT-DW640 the maximum vertical synchronization range from 0.085kHz to 120kHz. With a maximum vertical synchronization of only 0.085 kilohertz, the PT-DW640 has a fairly low maximum vertical synchronization compared to most of the other comparable spec projectors that are a similar age to the PT-DW640.

Chart Edit

Heavy

The weights of 2000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that have been available for around the same time as the PT-DW640 range from 370g to 23kg.
