Good Brand

We calculated the average ratings for all Optoma multimedia projectors and also specifically for Optoma 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors and found that in both cases Optoma had good ratings compared to other brands.

Supports 3D Image Projection

Like most of the other projectors that have been on the market for around the same time as the EW400, the Optoma EW400 supports 3D image projection.

We think you might also be interested in some of the other projectors which support 3D image projection currently available including because of it's better review score, the Viewsonic PJD6383S.

We compared this projector to all the other projectors with a 3D image projection and we think the X401, or the ML1500 both from Optoma is also worth considering.

Has a Built-In Speaker

The Optoma EW400 has a built-in speaker. Most of the other 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors that have been around for more than two years also have a built-in speaker.

We compared all the other projectors with a built-in speaker to this projector and we think because of it's better review score, the Viewsonic PJD6383S is also worth considering.

WXGA (1280x800) Native Projector Resolution

The Optoma EW400 has a maximum resolution of WXGA (1280x800). That's 30% more resolution than the most frequently found native projector resolution of XGA (1024x768). The resolution of all 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors that are a similar age to the EW400 ranges from SVGA (800x600) (worst) to WUXGA (1920x1200) (best).

The Optoma EW400 has one of the quieter noise levels (only 29 decibels) amongst 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors of this age. Across all the projectors of a similar age and type to the EW400 the noise levels range from 26dB to 40dB, and the average noise level is 33dB.

If you are not bothered about having a louder noise level then you might also want to look at the W307 (30dB), the W306 (30dB), or the X401 (29dB) all from Optoma.

Does Not Support Full HD Projection

The Optoma EW400 does not support Full HD projection, although it is worth noting that most of the other similar spec projectors that were launched more than two years ago also do not support Full HD projection.

There are a number of alternative projectors which also support Full HD projection which you might want to consider including the X401, the ML1500, or the EH300 all from Optoma.

Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity

Most comparable spec projectors that have been available for a similar time to the EW400 do not support WiFi connectivity. The Optoma EW400 is no exception to this as it too does not support WiFi connectivity.

We compared this projector to all the other multimedia projectors with a WiFi connectivity and we think the Optoma EX400 is also worth considering.

Bright image, high resolution for being 720p. 1080p is comparable however I assume it downscales the signal internally.
