Supports 3D Image Projection

The Optoma EH490 supports 3D image projection, unlike most of the other 10000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that are a similar age to the EH490 which do not support 3D image projection.

Supports Full HD Projection

The Optoma EH490 supports Full HD projection. Most of the other comparable spec data projectors that were released in the last year do not support Full HD projection.

There are a number of alternative projectors which support Full HD projection currently available that you might also want to consider including the Benq MH750 ($999.00), or the Vivitek DH758UST ($4,999.00) which is cheaper.

Other multimedia projectors which also support Full HD projection that you might want to look at include the Hitachi CP-WX5500.

Has a Built-In Speaker

The Optoma EH490 has a built-in speaker. Most of the other 10000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that came out in the last 12 months also have a built-in speaker.

It may also be worth considering one of the other projectors with a built-in speaker currently available including the Optoma W490 ($1,299.99), or the Hitachi CP-X5550 which is cheaper.

We compared this projector to all the other projectors with a built-in speaker and we think the Hitachi CP-WX5500 is also worth considering.

The Optoma EH490 has a maximum resolution of 1080p (1920x1080). That's over two times the resolution of the most common native projector resolution of WXGA (1280x800). Across all 10000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that have been available for the last year the worst resolution is XGA (1024x768) and the best is WUXGA (1920x1200).

The Optoma EH490 supports a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 (UXGA). That's over two times the resolution of the most common graphics resolution of 1024 x 768 (XGA) (which is also supported by this projector). This multimedia projector also support graphics resolutions of 640 x 480 (VGA), 800 x 600 (SVGA), 1280 x 1024 (SXGA), 1280 x 768 (WXGA) and 1280 x 800 (WXGA) and 1360 x 768 (WXGA). Across all similar spec projectors that have been on the market for around the same time as the EH490 the best resolution is 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) and the worst is 640 x 480 (VGA).

Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity

Most 10000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that have been around for the last year do not support WiFi connectivity. The Optoma EH490 is no exception to this as it too does not support WiFi connectivity.

We compared all the other data projectors which also support WiFi connectivity to this data projector and we think the Epson EB-585WS which is also cheaper is also worth considering.
