NEC Multimedia Projectors Have Good Reviews

3000:1 contrast ratio projectors manufactured by NEC have good reviews on average. We also checked the reviews for all multimedia projectors (not just 3000:1 contrast ratio projectors) and found that NEC also has good reviews across its entire range.

Has a Built-In Speaker

The NEC UM280 has a built-in speaker. Most of the other projectors that came out around the same time as the UM280 also have a built-in speaker.

We compared all the other projectors with a built-in speaker to this multimedia projector and we think the Epson EB-1935, and the Hitachi CPWX4022WN which is cheaper is also worth considering.

There are a number of other projectors which also have a built-in speaker which you might want to look at including the Sony VPL-SX630 ($1,069.95).

1920 X 1200 (WUXGA) Graphics Resolution

The NEC UM280 supports a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA). That's 20% more resolution than the most common graphics resolution of 1600 x 1200 (UXGA) (which is also supported by this projector). This NEC projector also support graphics resolutions of 720 x 480, 720 x 576, 832 x 624, 1600 x 900, 1024 x 768 (XGA), 1152 x 864 (XGA+), 1280 x 1024 (SXGA), 1280 x 720 (HD 720), 1280 x 768 (WXGA), 1280 x 800 (WXGA), 1360 x 768 (WXGA), 1366 х 768, 1400 x 1050 (SXGA+), 1440 x 900 (WXGA+), 1680 x 1050 (WSXGA+) and 1920 x 1080 (HD 1080) and 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA.

A 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) graphics resolution is actually the best supported resolution across all projectors of a comparable type and age to the UM280.

The worst supported resolution amongst comparable types of data projector is 640 x 480 (VGA).

Other projectors which also support Full HD projection that you might want to look at include the CP-X5022 ($1,018.99), or the CP-WX4022 ($1,033.99) both from Hitachi which is also cheaper.

Most projectors that have been on the market for more than two years do not support WiFi connectivity. The NEC UM280 is no exception to this as it too does not support WiFi connectivity.
