Average Expert Reviews

Epson is one of the better rated data projector manufacturers according to average user and expert reviews, and Epson also has good reviews for its 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors.
One customer mentioned in their reviews that it was well made.
Good Product Quality
One Epson VS340 reviewer wrote in their reviews that this projector was good quality.
Has a Built-In Speaker
The Epson VS340 has a built-in speaker, as do most of the other projectors of this age and type.
We think you might also be interested in some of the alternative data projectors with a built-in speaker currently available including the Epson VS240[plb_3043986_price] which is cheaper; or the Epson EB-W31[plb_3193910_price], or the Infocus IN118HDXC[plb_2945391_price] which has better reviews.
1400 X 1050 (SXGA+) Graphics Resolution
The Epson VS340 supports a maximum resolution of 1400 x 1050 (SXGA+). That's over three times the resolution of a 800 x 600 (SVGA) data projector, which is the most frequently found resolution supported by multimedia projectors of this type and age. 800 x 600 (SVGA) is also supported by this projector. This multimedia projector also support graphics resolutions of 1440 x 900 (WXGA+) and 1280 x 800 (WXGA) and 1280 x 1024 (SXGA). Across all projectors of this type and age the worst resolution is 800 x 600 (SVGA) and the best is 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA).
+4 More reasons for
Fairly Long Lamp Service Life
Across all the data projectors of this spec and age the lamp service lives range from 2,500h to 7,000h, and the average lamp service life is 4,500h. At 5,000 hours, the Epson VS340 has a quite long lamp service life compared to most of the other similar spec data projectors that came out around the same time as the VS340.
100V AC Input Voltage
This data projector has a 100 - 240V AC input voltage, which is typical of many projectors of a similar type and age to it.
Across all the projectors of a similar type and age to the VS340 the weights range from 1.5kg to 4kg. At only 2.4 kilograms, the Epson VS340 is fairly light compared to most of the other 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors that have been on the market for around the same time as the VS340.
9 Reasons Against
Inferior Picture Quality
One person who purchased it considered that it did not have good picture quality. Pcmag.com said in their review of this projector on expert review site PC Mag last year “Our testing showed mediocre image quality and a feeble soun” although they rated the Epson VS340 4 stars.
Does Not Support 3D Image Projection
The Epson VS340 does not support 3D image projection, although this is within the context that most of the other 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors that were released around the same time as the VS340 also do not support 3D image projection.
Alternative multimedia projectors which also support 3D image projection that you might want to consider include the Infocus IN118HDXC[plb_2945391_price], or the Epson EH-TW570[plb_2577305_price] which is also higher rated.
Does Not Support Full HD Projection
The Epson VS340 does not support Full HD projection. Most of the other multimedia projectors of a comparable age and type to the VS340 also do not support Full HD projection.
It is worth also looking at alternative data projectors which also support Full HD projection including the Infocus IN118HDXC[plb_2945391_price].
Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity
Like most of the other data projectors that have been available for more than a year, the Epson VS340 does not support WiFi connectivity.
We compared this data projector to all the other projectors with a WiFi connectivity and we think the Epson EB-W31[plb_3193910_price] which is also higher rated is also worth considering.
+6 More reasons against
Quite Dim Projector Brightness
Across all the projectors that have been available for around the same time as the VS340 the projector brightness range from 2,000 ANSI lumens to 5,000 ANSI lumens. The Epson VS340 has one of the dimmer projector brightness (only 2,800 ANSI lumens) amongst 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors of this age.
If this 15000:1 contrast ratio projector projector brightness is too dim for you then you might want to look at the Epson VS240[plb_3043986_price] (3,000 ANSI lumens and cheaper) or the VS345[pl_3043985_price] (3,000 ANSI lumens and higher rated), or the EB-W31[pl_3193910_price] (3,200 ANSI lumens and higher rated) both from Epson.
Quite Low RMS Rated Power
Projectors that were released around the same time as the VS340 have RMS rated power of between 1W and 20W. When compared to other projectors that were launched around the same time as the VS340 that we have assessed, the Epson VS340's RMS rated power of only 1 Watt is one of the lowest.
Quite Loud Noise Level
The quietest noise level of 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors that were launched around the same time as the VS340 is 29dB and the loudest is 39dB. With a noise level of 37 decibels, the Epson VS340 has one of the louder noise levels amongst 15000:1 contrast ratio projectors of this age.
It may also be worth considering one of the other 37dB noise level data projectors currently available including a cheaper data projector such as the Epson VS240[plb_3043986_price] or you might consider a higher rated data projector such as the EH-TW570[pl_2577305_price], or the VS345[pl_3043985_price] both from Epson.
Very Dim White Light Output
With a white light output of only 2,800 ANSI lumens, the Epson VS340 has a fairly dim white light output compared to most of the other projectors of a comparable type and age to the VS340. Across all the similar spec data projectors that were released one year ago the white light outputs range from 2,800 ANSI lumens to 3,300 ANSI lumens.
Very Dim Colour Light Output
With a colour light output of only 2,800 ANSI lumens, the Epson VS340 has a fairly dim colour light output compared to most of the other similar spec multimedia projectors that have been on the market for around the same time as the VS340. Data projectors that are a similar age to the VS340 have colour light outputs of between 2,800 ANSI lumens and 3,300 ANSI lumens, and the average colour light output is 3,100 ANSI lumens.
