Supports 3D Image Projection

The PowerLite W16 supports 3D image projection, which is unusual. Most of the other 5000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that were launched around the same time as the PowerLite W16 do not support 3D image projection.

We think you might also be interested in some of the alternative multimedia projectors which support 3D image projection currently available including the Z8455WUNL, or the PowerLite W16SK ($1,885.16) both from Epson or the Ricoh PJ WX4141N which has better reviews.

The PowerLite W16 has a built-in speaker. Most of the other 5000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that have been on the market for a similar time to the PowerLite W16 also have a built-in speaker.

1600 X 1200 (UXGA) Graphics Resolution

The PowerLite W16 supports a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 (UXGA). That's over six times the resolution of a 640 x 480 (VGA) projector, which is the most common resolution supported by multimedia projectors of this age and spec. This projector also support graphics resolutions of 1152 x 870, 1280 x 960, 1600 x 900, 1024 x 768 (XGA), 1280 x 1024 (SXGA), 1280 x 800 (WXGA), 1360 x 768 (WXGA), 1400 x 1050 (SXGA+), 1440 x 900 (WXGA+) and 1680 x 1050 (WSXGA+) and 800 x 600 (SVGA). Projectors that were released around the same time as the PowerLite W16 graphics resolutions range from 640 x 480 (VGA) to 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA).

Inferior Sound Quality

One Epson PowerLite W16 owner wrote in their reviews that the product did not have good sound quality. Three years ago It Reviews.com mentioned on IT Reviews.com “Limited audio volume” in their review of this projector yet they rated the product 4 stars.

Does Not Support Full HD Projection

The PowerLite W16 does not support Full HD projection, although this is within the context that most of the other projectors of this age and spec also do not support Full HD projection.

Other data projectors which also support Full HD projection that you might also want to look at include the Epson Z8455WUNL, or the Hitachi CP-AX2503 which is also higher rated.

Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity

The PowerLite W16 does not support WiFi connectivity, although it is worth noting that most of the other projectors of this age and spec also do not support WiFi connectivity.

We compared all the other projectors which also support WiFi connectivity to this projector and we think the Ricoh PJ WX4141N which is also higher rated is also worth considering.
