We also checked the reviews for all multimedia projectors (not just 10000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors) and found that Epson also has good ratings across its entire range.

Has a Built-In Speaker

The PowerLite 580 has a built-in speaker, as do most of the other comparable spec projectors that were launched more than two years ago.

It may also be worth also looking at one of the alternative multimedia projectors with a built-in speaker currently available including the Benq GP3[plb_2027406_price], or the Epson 1975W[plb_3009713_price] which has better reviews.

The Epson PowerLite 580 supports a maximum resolution of 1400 x 1050 (SXGA+). That's over four times the resolution of the most common graphics resolution of 640 x 480 (VGA). This Epson projector also support graphics resolutions of 1280 x 960, 1600 x 900, 1152 x 864 (XGA+), 1280 x 1024 (SXGA), 1280 x 768 (WXGA), 1280 x 800 (WXGA), 1360 x 768 (WXGA) and 1440 x 900 (WXGA+) and 800 x 600 (SVGA). Similar spec multimedia projectors that were released around the same time as the PowerLite 580 graphics resolutions range from 640 x 480 (VGA) to 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA).

Does Not Support 3D Image Projection

Like most of the other data projectors of a comparable age and type to the PowerLite 580, the PowerLite 580 does not support 3D image projection.

We compared all the other projectors which also support 3D image projection to this data projector and we think the Vivitek Qumi Q2[plb_1925642_price] which also has a higher rating is also worth considering.

Does Not Support Full HD Projection

Most projectors of this spec and age do not support Full HD projection. The PowerLite 580 is no exception to this as it too does not support Full HD projection.

There are a number of other projectors which also support Full HD projection which you might also want to look at including the NEC NP-M282[plb_2338575_price] which also has a higher rating.

Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity

The PowerLite 580 does not support WiFi connectivity. Most of the other 10000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that have been available for around the same time as the PowerLite 580 also do not support WiFi connectivity.

There are a number of alternative multimedia projectors which also support WiFi connectivity that you might want to look at including the Benq W1500[plb_1561671_price].

At 35 decibels, the PowerLite 580 has a pretty typical noise level compared to most of the other data projectors of a similar age and spec to the PowerLite 580.

We compared all the other 35dB noise level data projectors to this projector and we think because of it's better review score, the Epson BrightLink 595WI+[plb_2175966_price] is also worth considering.

Average Projector Brightness

The Epson PowerLite 580 has a pretty standard projector brightness (3,200 ANSI lumens) compared to most of the other 10000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that were released around the same time as the PowerLite 580.

If you would prefer a brighter projector brightness then you might also want to look at the EB-595Wi[pl_2237072_price] (3,300 ANSI lumens), or the 1430Wi[pl_2953476_price] (3,300 ANSI lumens) both from Epson or the NEC M352[plb_2250187_price] (3,500 ANSI lumens) which also has a higher rating.
