ASUS 28 4K Monitor - Unboxing + Overview (PB287Q)
Hands-On Review_ Asus PB287Q UHD 4K Monitor

8 Reasons For

Good Brand

We calculated the average ratings for all Asus PC monitors and also specifically for Asus medium monitors and found that in both cases Asus had good ratings.

LED Display Type

This LCD screen has an LED display type, which is the most commonly found display type on medium monitors that have been on the market for more than two years.

Other LCD screens that have an LED Display currently available which you might want to consider include the Fujitsu B24W-7 which is cheaper; or the AOC G2770 ($303.80) which has better reviews.

Has a Built-In Speaker

The Asus PB287 has a built-in speaker, which is unusual. Most of the other medium monitors that were released more than two years ago do not have a built-in speaker.

We compared all the other PC displays with a built-in speaker to this flatpanel monitor and we think the Philips C272P4QPKEW which is cheaper; or the Philips BDM3470UP, and the LG 29EA93 which has better reviews are also worth considering.

Very Many Display Colour Count

With a display colour count of 1,073.7 million, the Asus PB287 has one of the most display colour counts amongst PC monitors of this age. Across all the LCD screens of a similar age and spec to the PB287 the display colour counts range from 0.21M to 1,100M.

Chart Edit

Two HDMI Ports

Most medium monitors that have been around for more than two years have between one and three HDMI ports, including the Asus PB287 which has two HDMI ports.

Chart Edit

3840 X 2160 Graphics Resolution

The Asus PB287 has a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160. That's over four times the resolution of the most frequently found graphics resolution of 1920 x 1080 (HD 1080).

This PC display's resolution (3840 x 2160) is in fact the best resolution across all comparable spec LCD screens that were released around the same time as the PB287.

The worst resolution amongst comparable types of PC display is 640 x 350.

Read more Less Chart Edit

Has Two Cables Included

The number of cables included found on the Asus PB287 is more than most medium monitors that came out more than two years ago. This PC monitor has an AC cable included, which is the most frequently found cable included found on LCD screens of this spec and age. The cable included "Audio (3.5mm)" is also found on this PC display.

Chart Edit

Quite Fast Response Time

With a response time of only 1 millisecond, the Asus PB287 has one of the fastest response times amongst similar spec PC displays of this age. PC screens of this age and spec have response times of between 1ms and 40ms.

Chart Edit

6 Reasons Against

Not 3D Compatible

The Asus PB287 is not 3D compatible, although keep in mind that most of the other medium monitors that came out more than two years ago are also not 3D compatible.

If you would prefer an LCD screen that is 3D compatible then you might also want to look at the DA220, or the XB280HK ($553.99) both from Acer or the Samsung SMT-2232 ($549.99).

Read more Less Chart Edit

Does Not Have a Built-In Camera

Most PC monitors that have been available for more than two years do not have a built-in camera. The Asus PB287 is no exception to this as it too does not have a built-in camera.

We compared this flatpanel monitor to all the other flatpanel monitors with a built-in camera and we think the Acer DA220, or the Philips 272P4 ($586.99) or the Philips C272P4QPKEW are also worth considering.

Read more Less Chart Edit

Does Not Have an Integrated Card Reader

The Asus PB287 does not have an integrated card reader. Most of the other similar spec PC monitors that have been around for around the same time as the PB287 also do not have an integrated card reader.

We compared this PC monitor to all the other PC displays with an integrated card reader and we think the Asus PA279 ($749.00), the Acer DA220, or the DELL UP2414Q which also has a higher rating is also worth considering.

Only HD HD Type

This PC monitor has a 4K Ultra HD HD type, which is typical of many flatpanel monitors of a similar age and spec to it.

Chart Edit

Quite Narrow Vertical Viewing Angle

The narrowest vertical viewing angle of medium monitors that came out more than two years ago is 50°, the widest is 180°, and the average vertical viewing angle is 170°. With a vertical viewing angle of only 160 degrees, the Asus PB287 has a quite narrow vertical viewing angle compared to most of the other PC screens that have been on the market for around the same time as the PB287.
