Medium monitors manufactured by Asus have good ratings on average compared to other brands. We also checked the reviews for all PC displays (not just medium monitors) and found that Asus also has good ratings across its entire range.
Good Technical Features
Several customers concluded that this PC monitor had good features. Last year Christian R mentioned “I would like to be able to have more, as I don't use the unchangeable "quickfit" and "input select" features very useful, as I rarely have more than one input” in his review of this PC monitor.
One Asus PB278 reviewer said in their reviews that the product was tight. A few weeks ago Gary H gave it an excellent rating and he said on Amazon “Only negative comment is that the inputs are a bit difficult to get to and cables are a tight fit.” in his review of this PC monitor.

Christian R scored it 4 stars and he mentioned in his review on Amazon last year “The built-in volume control, which is accessible only via the on-screen display controlled by the buttons on the underside of the display, should be done well”. One Asus PB278 reviewer who bought it mentioned that it was easy to use the menus. Two years ago Paul George wrote “You can mess around & have fun with the settings as I have & love the different features on offer Reading” and gave the product an excellent rating.
Acceptable Noise Level
One customer reckoned that the Asus PB278 was noisy. Christian R wrote on Amazon “Even at 1% it is very loud” in his Asus PB278 review.
One person said in their reviews that this PC monitor had good technical guidance.
Has a Built-In Speaker
The Asus PB278 has a built-in speaker. Most of the other medium monitors that have been available for around the same time as the PB278 do not have a built-in speaker.
We compared all the other PC displays with a built-in speaker to this PC monitor and we think the Benq BL2710[plb_1729060_price], and the Acer B286HK[plb_2551124_price] which has better reviews; or the NEC MultiSync EA273[plb_1618349_price] which is cheaper are also worth considering.
3 Reasons Against
Does Not Have a Built-In Camera
The Asus PB278 does not have a built-in camera. Most of the other medium monitors that have been available for around the same time as the PB278 also do not have a built-in camera.
It is worth also looking at other flatpanel monitors which also have a built-in camera including the 272P4[pl_1489468_price], or the 271P4QPJ[pl_1445410_price] both from Philips or the Acer DA220[plb_1606986_price] which also has a higher rating.
Not 3D Compatible
Most LCD screens of a similar age and type to the PB278 are not 3D compatible. The Asus PB278 is no exception to this as it too is not 3D compatible.
If you would prefer a PC screen that is 3D compatible then you might also want to consider the BL2710[pl_1729060_price], or the XL2720[pl_1548412_price] both from Benq or the Acer XB280HK[plb_2431334_price] which also has a higher rating.
Does Not Have an Integrated Card Reader
Like most of the other medium monitors that were released more than two years ago, the Asus PB278 does not have an integrated card reader.
It is worth also looking at alternative PC screens which also have an integrated card reader including the Acer DA220[plb_1606986_price], the DELL U2413[plb_1565290_price], or the Asus PA279[plb_1588541_price] which also has a higher rating.
