The Toshiba Z40 has a better storage medium than most medium processor core laptops that were released more than a year ago. This notebook PC has an SSD storage medium, whereas most portable PCs of this type and age have an HDD storage medium. Solid State Drives (SSD) store data in semiconductors on a circuit board rather than using magnetic or optical media. Solid State Drives have no moving parts which makes them very fast and reliable.
An SSD storage medium is actually the best storage medium across all similar spec notebook PCs that have been on the market for more than a year.
The worst storage medium across similar types of portable PC is HDD.
It may also be worth also looking at one of the other notebook PCs that have an SSD storage media currently available including a cheaper portable PC such as the Tecra Z40, or the Tecra Z40 both from Toshiba or you might consider a better rated portable PC such as the Fujitsu Lifebook U745.
Laptops with a better storage medium that might be worth considering include the Lenovo L450 (SSD).
