The EliteBook 820 has an SSD storage medium which is better than the HDD storage medium found on most similar spec notebook PCs that have been around for more than a year. Solid State Drives (SSD) store data in semiconductors on a circuit board rather than using magnetic or optical media. Solid State Drives have no moving parts which makes them very fast and reliable.
An SSD storage medium is in fact the best storage medium across all medium processor core laptops that came out around the same time as the EliteBook 820.
The worst storage medium amongst comparable types of portable PC is HDD.
We compared this laptop to all the other portable PCs that have an SSD storage media and we think cheaper portable PCs such as the Tecra Z40, and the Tecra Z40 both from Toshiba or the Lenovo ThinkPad E550 is also worth considering.
If the storage medium of this HP laptop is too bad for you then you might want to consider the Lenovo L540 (SSD).
