The DELL XPS 13 has a better storage medium than most medium processor core laptops that came out more than a year ago. This notebook PC has an SSD storage medium, whereas most medium processor core laptops that were released one year ago have an HDD storage medium. Solid State Drives (SSD) store data in semiconductors on a circuit board rather than using magnetic or optical media. Solid State Drives have no moving parts which makes them very fast and reliable.
An SSD storage medium is in fact the best storage medium amongst all similar spec portable PCs that have been on the market for a comparable time to the XPS 13.
An HDD storage medium is the worst storage medium across similar types of portable PC.
We compared this laptop to all the other laptops that have an SSD storage media and we think a cheaper portable PC such as the DELL Latitude 14 E7450 or you might consider a higher rated portable PC such as the Satellite Z30, and the Satellite Z30 both from Toshiba are also worth considering.
If the storage medium of this portable PC is not good enough for you then you might want to consider the Toshiba Z30 (SSD), or the DELL Latitude 12 E7250 (SSD).
