The DSC-HX400V has a MOS sensor type which is better than most cameras of a similar type and age to it. Most digital cameras of this type and age have a CCD sensor type.

It may also be worth considering one of the alternative digital cameras that have a CMOS sensor currently available including a cheaper camera such as the Nikon Coolpix P330[plb_1724102_price] or you might consider a higher scoring camera such as the Coolpix P510[pl_2071647_price], or the Coolpix S9700[pl_2173237_price] both from Nikon.

If you would prefer a camera with a better sensor type then you might want to consider the Samsung WB150F[plb_2060742_price] (CCD and higher rated).
