Robust

Several Ricoh WG-20 owners mentioned in their reviews that it was strong and durable. A R Hartley said on Amazon “A rugged, hard wearing camera” but they only rated the product 3 stars. A R Hartley also wrote “The WG series of rugged cameras from Ricoh or Pentax as it was once called, are the company's stab at a more sporty camera lover”. Mr. C. Street wrote in their review of this digital camera on Amazon “Shockproof it appears fine as well”.

A few Ricoh WG-20 reviewers concluded that this digital camera was good at resisting water ingress. M. Hadfield wrote “Great if all you want is a waterproof point and shoot”. Mr. C. A number of people who purchased it reckoned that it was compact. M. Hadfield wrote “Nice little compact”. M. Hadfield also wrote “The last time I owned a compact digital camera was around 12 years ago”. Two years ago expert review site Photographyblog.com mentioned “Since Ricoh acquired Pentax from Hoya, they're releasing cameras under the Ricoh name that bear an uncanny resemblance to Pentax compact cameras”.

CCD Sensor Type

The Ricoh WG-20 has a better sensor type than most waterproof cameras that came out more than two years ago. This Ricoh digital camera has a CCD sensor type, whereas most cameras of this type and age have a MOS sensor type. CCD sensors produce high quality, low-noise images but consume a lot more power than CMOS sensors. CCD is the most common image sensor type used in digital cameras.

A CCD sensor type is actually the best sensor type amongst all waterproof cameras that were released around the same time as the WG-20.

A MOS sensor type is the worst sensor type amongst similar types of camera.
