MOS Sensor Type

The Lumix DMC-TZ40 has a better sensor type than most compact camera digital cameras that were released more than two years ago. This Panasonic camera has a MOS sensor type, whereas most compact camera digital cameras that have been around for around the same time as it have a CCD sensor type.

It may also be worth considering one of the other cameras that have a MOS sensor currently available including the Lumix DMC-LX7[pl_2071996_price], or the Lumix DMC-TZ60[pl_2145753_price] both from Panasonic which has better reviews.

If the sensor type of this camera is too bad for you then you might also want to look at the Samsung GC100[plb_2600424_price] (CMOS), or the Sony DSC-RX100[plb_2319255_price] (CMOS) which also has a higher rating.
