The Leica M9-P has a CCD sensor type which is better than the MOS sensor type found on most MILC digital cameras that have been around for more than two years. CCD sensors produce high quality, low-noise images but consume a lot more power than CMOS sensors. CCD is the most common image sensor type used in digital cameras.
A CCD sensor type is in fact the best sensor type across all MILC digital cameras that were launched more than two years ago.
A MOS sensor type is the worst sensor type across comparable types of digital camera.
It may also be worth considering one of the other digital cameras that have a CCD sensor currently available including because of it's better review score, the Leica M Monochrom ($7,450.00).
