Good Quality Pictures

A number of Canon IXUS 180 reviewers who purchased the product concluded that it was able to produce good images. Anonymous gave it a rating of 80 out of 100 and mentioned “Nice colour and great photos” in their Canon IXUS 180 review. Anonymous also wrote “It works well and takes great photos, have not dropped it so no idea about the strength! Shame the batteries are different again, just more expense to replace”. CCD Sensor Type

The IXUS 180 has a better sensor type than most comparable spec cameras that are a similar age to it. This camera has a CCD sensor type, whereas most digital cameras that were launched around the same time as it have a MOS sensor type. CCD sensors produce high quality, low-noise images but consume a lot more power than CMOS sensors. CCD is the most common image sensor type used in digital cameras.
