Good Product Quality

Five Vivitar DVR785 reviewers wrote in their reviews that this camcorders was good quality. Dazza wrote in their review of this camcorders on Amazon “Reasonable quality in it's picture - both in still”. Mr. V. P. Yotov wrote on Amazon “The picture quality is good except sometimes depending on the light conditions the colors get a little bit wrong” in their Vivitar DVR785 review. Two years ago Robin Andrew Gronbach wrote in his review “Has more than adequate picture quality, for summer track days it's ace”.

Robust

A few people who purchased this camcorders said that it was good at resisting water ingress. Amazon Customer said in August last year “This is an underwater camera, which was not tested” in their review. Amazon Customer also said “Found that it was leaking water in”.

Easy to Use

One Vivitar DVR785 owner who reviewed this camcorders concluded that it performed as expected. Robin Andrew Gronbach said in his review of this camcorders “If your an absolute perfectionist go spend £300, for me it's fine and does what it says on the box”.

Good Battery Life

A few customers said in their reviews that it had a good battery life. Two years ago Dazza wrote in their review of this camcorders “The issue i have is battery life”. Mr. V. P. Yotov wrote on Amazon “Good battery life with 16Gb card I have 3 hours recording”.

One person who bought it considered that it was quick to charge. Hollyd1986 wrote on Amazon “Received this and on leaving the battery to charge for a fair few hours, went to use it” although gave the product a score of 20 out of 100.

Does Not Have an Image Stabiliser

Most of the other camcorders of a comparable age and type to the DVR785 have an image stabiliser, however the Vivitar DVR785 does not have an image stabiliser.

It is worth also looking at other video cameras which also have an image stabiliser including the Sony HDR-CX240.

The smallest digital zoom of video cameras that have been around for a similar time to the DVR785 is 2x, the biggest is 1,800x, and the average digital zoom is 170x. At only 4 times zoom factor, the Vivitar DVR785 has a quite small digital zoom compared to most of the other camcorders that are a comparable age to the DVR785.

If you would prefer a camcorder with a bigger digital zoom then you might also want to consider the Sony HDR-CX240 (320x) which is also cheaper.
