The HDR-PJ620 has a better image stabiliser type than most video cameras of a similar age and type to it. This video camera has an Optical image stabiliser, whereas most small sensor size camcorders that have been on the market for a comparable time to it have a Hybrid image stabiliser. Optical image stabilisation is hardware based. Digital cameras with optical IS typically have a built-in gyro sensor and microprocessor that detects camera shake as it occurs.
