We compared all the other video cameras with an image stabiliser to this video camera and we think because of it's better review score, the Vixia HF M40, and the Vixia HF R40 ($399.00) both from Canon or the Sony HDR-PJ220 is also worth considering.

They're compact and have manual controls, a zoom lens, and a video light, which is nice for the price of the Panasonic HDCS 40
