A few JVC GC-XA1 owners who bought it reckoned that it was strong and durable. Two years ago Expertreviews.co.uk said on expert website Expert Reviews “The camera itself feels reassuringly robust thanks to its rubber casing; it's rated to survive a 2m drop” in their review. Expert Reviews said also two years ago “Extremely lightweight and rugged”.

One person who reviewed it mentioned that it was good at resisting water ingress. Expert review site Expertreviews.co.uk wrote “Is also waterproof to 5m down” in their review however they scored the product 3 stars.

Most video cameras that were released more than two years ago support an SDHC memory card. In addition, this JVC camcorder supports an SD memory card. SDXC cards are SD cards but with a much higher capacity and faster processing speeds. They have a maximum capacity of 2TB (Terabytes).
